What Ganduje told Kano Assembly about Emir Sanusi [See letter]

The letter Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, sent to the state House of Assembly, urging the legislators to call off probe of the emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has been released.

The monarch was facing probe by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission over alleged misappropriation of the emirate council’s fund to the tune of over N4 billion before the assembly began its probe.

The assembly thereafter mandated an 8-man committee to submit report within two weeks.

The assembly’s intervention however sparked public outrage that the eight-count charge against Mr Sanusi was politically-motivated.

On Monday, the Speaker of the Assembly, Alhassan Rurum, indefinitely suspended the probe after the members unanimously voted for the governor’s request.

Ganduje’s letter revealed the names of the highly-placed individuals who lobbied the governor at the instance of the emir to prevail on the assembly to suspend its probe.

Notable among them are acting president Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki, former heads of state Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar, Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar, Aliko Dangote, Aminu Dantata, among others.
